The History of the District Court Bibile

Dating back to a distant past, the Bibile Court initially operated as a traditional rural Court and was later utilized as a Circuit Magistrate’s Court.

The Circuit Magistrate’s Court proceedings of this jurisdiction were conducted for a period of time by the District/ Magistrate’s Court Monaragala and District/ Magistrate’s Court Wellawaya.

Functioning as a Magistrate’s Court

  • It functioned as a Magistrate’s Court until 12th September in 2025 according to the jurisdictions defined by the jurisdiction gazette notification No.1679/40 dated 10th November in 2010, which was subsequently dated 15th May in 2011.

Upgrade to a District/Magistrate’s Court

  • This Court has been upgraded to a District/Magistrate’s Court by extraordinary gazette No.2453/36 dated 12th September in 2025.
  • Accordingly, this court is currently functioning as a combined District and Magistrate’s Court, expanding its judicial scope and services to the region.
